IF YOU WEREN’T happy with your round one college offer from the Central Applications Office (CAO), don’t fret because round two results were released this morning.
It comes as extra places become available when, for example, some people don’t take up their offers or colleges increase their capacity.
Some students will be hoping that points for their preferred college course come down and they are offered a place in college. However, in comparison to over 40,000 students receiving a first round letter, only 2,000 can expect letters from the CAO today.
The CAO revealed that a substantial number of students accepted their round one level 8 offers – around 75 per cent – by the 5pm deadline on Monday evening.
In total 43,989 Leaving Certificate students applied to the CAO to gain entry into various degrees and other courses over the summer.
Figures released by the CAO showed that arts and social science courses were the most popular with nearly 17,000 applicants to those courses in various educational institutions
Round two offers must be accepted by the deadline of 5.15pm Wednesday, September 4.
