Five due in court over dissident republican activity

The five men were arrested earlier this week and follow-up searches resulted in the seizure of several firearms and various bomb parts.

FIVE MEN ARRESTED earlier this week in connection with dissident republican activity are due to appear at Dublin District Court in the Criminal Courts of Justice this morning.

The five men, all aged in their 20s, were being detained at various garda stations in the Dublin Metropolitan Region since their arrests on 11 September. In follow-up searches, gardaí seized several firearms, assorted ammunition and various bomb parts.

A woman in her late 20s, also arrested that day and detained at Ballymun garda station, has been released without charge. A second woman in her late 30s was arrested yesterday and is now detained at Finglas Garda.

The men will appear in court at 10.30 this morning.
