Fine Gael prepare for next general election

Fine Gael meet today for the first time since the failed leadership challenge of the summer.

FINE GAEL IS assembling in Waterford today for the first all-party meeting since the failed leadership heave this summer.

Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny has said his party is now focused on winning the next election, and is expected to discuss strategies during the think-tank session ahead of the return to the Dáil at the end of September.

Kenny’s sentiment was repeated by the party’s Waterford by-election candidate Senator Paudie Coffey.

Coffey said that the agenda for the coming days was to “plan for the impending general election due to be held within the next 20 months. With that in mind, the public will be focused on who is best to lead this country out of this economic mess.”

The meetings, which will take place in Faithlegg House, will continue over Wednesday and Thursday.
