Large fire at factory in Naas

Emergency services are the scene of the fire which broke out tonight.

A LARGE FIRE has broken out at an abandoned factory in Naas in Kildare this evening.

Dark plumes of smoke have been seen in the sky close to the well-known Perpetual Motion sculpture near the Kildare town.

Gardaí and fire services are at the scene of the blaze.

It is not yet known what caused the large fire or whether anyone was in the building at the time.

AA Roadwatch has warned that traffic is extremely slow both ways on the N7 as emergency services deal with the fire and motorists are urged to take care as visibility may be affected by the smoke.

More on this to come…
