Woman, 74, knocked down in Longford last night

The pedestrian was killed as she crossed the road at Edgeworthstown.

A 74-YEAR-OLD woman was killed on a Longford road last night.

She was fatally injured when a vehicle hit her has she crossed the road at Lisnagrish in Edgeworthstown.

The incident occurred at about 7.45pm. Her body was removed to Longford/Westmeath General Hospital and  post mortem is due thi morning.

The road has been reopened following forensic examinations.

Gardaí investigating would like to make an appeal for information and ask anyone who may know something, to call on 1800 666 111.
