While history should always strive to capture both the good (so we can remember) and the bad (So we may never forget) it’s not the portrait that should be hung. Court cases should never stop without conclusion nor should they be allowed to meander aimlessly – get him back in the dock and treat him like any scumbag accused of stealing in the district court.

Forget about the frame. Hang the man himself up by the neck. We could keep our eye on him and know he’s up no mischief. We could charge the public a good sum to come and see the man who brought Ireland to it knees. Who knows, we might even make enough money to pay off the bankers’ debts.

I say leave it in Leinster House and let it be a fitting reminder for people to consider who and what they vote for when they vote in an election. It should also serve as a reminder that we should always question the conduct of our politicians.
