Video column The Writer – the life and work of Tim Pat Coogan

As part of a series of interviews with Dubliners, journalist Eoin Lynch and photographer Deirdre Brennan speak to writer and journalist Tim Pat Coogan.

THE ‘DUBLINERS’ SERIES is glimpse into the lives of some of the characters living in a city where history and modernity collide on a daily basis. Told through sound and image this series brings the viewer a wide array of people who call Dublin their home.

Tim Pat Coogan is one of Ireland’s most prolific journalists and historical writers. His books include Ireland Since the Rising, The IRA, and On The Blanket a book about the H Block protests. Tim Pat has also written what many consider to be the definitive biographies of both Michael Collins and Eamon de Valera. From 1968 to 1987 he was Editor of The Irish Press newspaper.

Coogan gave an address at the 40th anniversary of the Dublin and Monaghan bombings on Saturday 17 May.
