Post mortems due on man and woman found dead in west Clare

It is believed two young children were in the house where the man was found.

POST MORTEMS ARE due to be carried out on a 44-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman found dead in Kildysart, Co Clare.

Gardaí say they are not looking for a third-party in relation to the incident, and are treating it as a domestic incident.

An injured woman was found by gardaí on Main Street in Kildysart at 7.30pm yesterday evening.

A seriously injured man was found in a nearby house a short time later.

Despite efforts by gardai at scene, both were pronounced dead by a local doctor.

It is understood there were young children in the house at the time.

The Clare Herald reports that the toddlers, a boy aged 2 and a girl aged 3, are currently being cared for by neighbours.

The paper adds that the woman and man were discovered while fire services were attending an unrelated electric fire close to the scene.

The couple are believed to originally be from South Africa.

Any witnesses or anyone who may have been in the area between 6pm and 7.30pm is asked to contact gardaí in Kildysart on 065-6832102.
