A MAN HAS been arrested after a woman was found stabbed to death on a roadway outside a house in Roscommon this afternoon.
The woman, in her late 40s, was found on the roadway outside a house in The Spinney in Roscommon town, gardaí say. The stabbing occurred at around 2.30pm this afternoon.
Her body was removed to Ballinasloe Hospital where a post-mortem will take place tomorrow.
A man in his 20s has been arrested and is being held at Roscommon garda station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
