200 Chinese pilots lied on their CV
Almost half were employed by carrier involved in last month’s fatal plane crash.
MORE THAN 200 PILOTS in China were found to have lied about their work experience, according to an investigation by the Civil Aviation Administration of China last year.
The pilots were found to have embellished their careers or experience.
All of the pilots involved have been grounded since the discovery was made during an investigation conducted between 2008 and 2009.
However, the aviation body has admitted it may not have found all of the country’s under-qualified pilots, and says it will carry out further investigations.
These inquiries will also focus at other people involved in the aviation industry, such as flight trainers and airline investigators.
Investigators are separately examining the qualifications of the pilot involved in the recent fatal Henan Airlines crash after it emerged that the airline had hired almost half of the pilots who lied about their qualifications. Forty-two people were killed in the crash.
