1. In today’s morning lead an Irish man has spoken out about failed testes surgery at the age of two – as the hospital apologises decades later.

2. A weakening typhoon Fung-wong departed the Philippines over the South China Sea on Monday morning, after its driving winds and heavy rain killed at least two people and forced more than a million to evacuate.

Bird flu

3. A compulsory housing order for all poultry and captive birds comes into effect today following recent bird flu outbreaks.

4. BBC chairman Samir Shah is expected to apologise for the way a speech by Donald Trump was edited for Panorama after several days of pressure on the broadcaster prompted the resignation of director-general Tim Davie.

Government shutdown

5. US senators have reached a bipartisan deal that would resume federal funding and end a shutdown which has stretched to a record 40 days and forced many government operations to grind to a halt.

Weather warnings

6. A rain warning for tomorrow has been extended to six counties according to Met Éireann.

7. The parents of Harvey Sherratt (9) who suffered while waiting for scoliosis surgery want a “full, independent inquiry” into Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) following a whistleblower’s claims that CHI removed their son from its active spinal surgery waiting list after it wrongly determined he was a “palliative” patient.

8. A man has been arrested and charged following the Leinster club SHC quarter-final between Ballyhale Shamrocks and Kilcormac-Killoughey.
