2. A woman was airlifted to hospital after being seriously injured in a dog attack at a home in Carlow town yesterday afternoon.

3. Russian strikes wounded six people in Odesa including three children, the Ukrainian city’s military administration said Wednesday.

4. Gardaí have said one of the motorists they stopped during their Christmas road traffic enforcement operation was travelling at more than 200kms per hour in a 100km/hr zone near Limerick city. 

Edenderry arson attack

5. Gardaí conducting a murder investigation into the house fire that killed a four-year-old boy and his grand-aunt in Edenderry, Co Offaly in early December are appealing for information about a car they found burnt out in Co Kildare.

6. Israel has announced the suspension of more than two dozen humanitarian organisations from working in Gaza, including Doctors Without Borders (MSF), in its latest action taken against NGOs that operate in Palestine.

9. Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani was readying today to take over as New York mayor, becoming the city’s first Muslim, first South Asian, and youngest mayor in more than 100 years.
