Police seek suspect after ‘acid attack’ leaves 14-year-old girl severely injured

Police are seeking a suspect described as a ‘tall, slim, black male, wearing dark clothing with his face obscured’.

LAST UPDATE | 1 Oct 2024

A 14-year-old girl has been left with potentially life-changing injuries after a suspected acid attack outside a school in London in the UK.

The London Metropolitan Police have described the suspect as a tall, slim, Black male, wearing dark clothing with his face obscured, possibly by a mask or balaclava. He allegedly rode an e-scooter to and from the scene.

Police are appealing for information.

“If you have information that can help us, it is imperative that you tell us immediately. The area at the time was busy with people and cars,” Detective Chief Inspector Dean Purvis.

I am particularly interested in hearing from anyone who might have captured dash cam footage that can help us establish what happened.”

A boy aged 16 and a 27-year-old woman were also injured after a substance was thrown at pupils and a staff member outside Westminster Academy, a school on Alfred Road in the Westbourne Park area of west London, on Monday afternoon.

Police on patrol were flagged down by school staff shortly after 4.40pm.

Both teenagers remain in hospital, with the boy’s injuries described as not life-threatening or life-changing.

The woman has since been discharged.

London’s Metropolitan Police force said two officers were also taken to hospital as a precaution after they reported feeling unwell.

What are the odds on the suspect being a “man of peace”?

@J Ven: Who knows. Westbourne Park is mainly a West Indian community. But well done you for displaying your prejudice and making it about race and religion

@J Ven: What are the odds on you recanting if this turns out not to be the case?

Would you believe there were over 1200 acid attacks recorded in the UK in 2023? Only a truly malignant mind could throw acid over someone.

@honey badger: it’s the culture among some communities when rejected by a female.

@P. V. Aglue: Some communities, or just some violent nutters?

‘On 31 March 2008, Katie Piper was attacked with sulphuric acid, causing major damage to her face and blindness in one eye. Piper was attacked by Stefan Sylvestre, an accomplice of her ex-boyfriend, Daniel Lynch, who two days before raped and beat Piper, threatened to cut her with a razor and hang her, and stabbed her several times in the arms.’

Diphoterine spray is a very effect first aid neutraliser of both acids and bases used by many industries. I wonder how availabilie it is to the general public particularly in London if acid attacks are becoming so common?
