IRELAND RECEIVED 176 European arrest warrants in 2015, the fourth consecutive drop compared to a high of 384 in 2011.
While there were 208 fewer warrants issued to Ireland compared to those received in 2011, it’s still over six times the amount received in 2004 (28).
Here’s a breakdown of the number of European arrest warrants Ireland received since 2004:
Of the 176 European arrest warrants received in 2015, 86 were from Poland, 36 were from the UK and 14 were from Lithuania.
This echoed the previous year when of the 183 European arrest warrants received in 2014 – 87 were from Poland, 37 were from the UK (including eight from Northern Ireland) and 17 were from Lithuania.
Those detected were suspected of a wide range of crimes including murder, rape, sexual abuse of children, fraud and human trafficking.

Overall Ireland has received 2,573 European Arrest Warrants since 2004.
Some 423 of the European arrest warrant received between 2004 and 2014 were still ongoing at 1 January 2015.
Of these, 161 were completed in 2015 and 262 were still at various stages of processing at 31 December 2015.
