Search resumes for missing man whose dad and girlfriend drowned in Cork

The bodies of Barry Ryan and Niamh O’Connor were recovered on Tuesday.

THE SEARCH IS continuing today for Barry Davis Ryan, the 21-year-old who disappeared on Tuesday evening when trying to save his girlfriend.

His father, Barry Ryan (51) and his girlfriend, Niamh O’Connor (20) both drowned off Baltimore in west Cork.

It’s understood that two members of the group of four were swept out to the sea while rock fishing.

It’s reported that the 12-year-old daughter of Barry Ryan called emergency services to raise the alarm.

The bodies of Barry Ryan and Niamh O’Connor were recovered on Tuesday.

Barry Ryan was a son of Penneys founder Arthur Ryan.

Divers will resume the search for his son, Barry Davis Ryan, at 8am this morning.
