A BOMB WAS thrown into the garden of a house in east Belfast in the early hours of this morning.
Two people believed to have been involved made off on a motorcycle.
Police received reports of the viable pipe bomb type device being thrown at the house in Island Street shortly after 3.40am.
A motorcycle, believed to have been involved, was recovered a short time later in the Clandeboye Street area just off Castlereagh Street.
Police are also investigating whether a single vehicle road traffic collision on the Beersbridge Road shortly before 5am this morning involving a red coloured Honda Civic was also linked to the incident.
Detective Chief Inspector Gary Reid is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information about the movements of a red Kawasaki motorcycle or the red Honda Civic to contact Detectives in Musgrave Police Station on the non-emergency number 101.
Information can also be passed anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
