Boy drowns in River Liffey in Co Kildare

Gardaí say it was a tragic accident after a 14-year-old boy who had been playing in the river with friends drowned yesterday evening.

A 14-YEAR-OLD boy has died after he got into difficulty whilst playing with friends in the river Liffey in Clane, Co Kildare.

Gardaí say they are treating the incident as “a tragic accident”.

The incident happened just before 6pm yesterday evening when the boy was playing with his friends in the river before getting into difficulty.

The boy’s body has been taken to Naas General Hospital where a post-mortem examination will take place today.
