Corrie's Rita arrested on suspicion of drink-driving

The 80-year-old actress was arrested by Knutsford police after her daughter was arrested for the same offence.

CORONATION STREET STAR Barbara Knox has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.

Bail

The 80-year-old actress who plays Rita Tanner in the soap was arrested by police in Knutsford, Cheshire, reports ITV News, who confirmed that the police had said she had been released on bail.

It’s believed her daughter was also arrested earlier that day for the same offence, reports The Daily Mail.

The veteran actress has been playing the charachter Rita, who owns the local newsagents on the street for over 40 years.
