The recipe for Jacob's cream crackers has not changed, and we can all stand down

Don’t go changing to try and please us, you’ve never let us down before…

THE HUMBLE JACOB’S cream cracker has been a staple of Irish food cupboards for donkey’s years, and for good reason.

The crackers are a source of comfort and joy for many, whether spread with butter, loaded with cheese, or nibbled on dry. So why are so many people unsatisfied?

A recent thread on Reddit’s Irish forum revealed a general unhappiness with the ‘new’ taste and look of Jacob’s cream crackers, with some users admitting they had switched to – whisper it – Carr’s Water Biscuits.

Dark-Artist wrote:

It doesn’t have that same creamy taste/texture anymore – more of a salty, floury sensation that is really mediocre and puts it on the same level as the rest of the world’s crackers.

LoggedInToJokeAbout agreed:

The’ve gone very biscuity, yes.

And that’s not the only evidence. There have are reports of a different taste stretching as far back as 2012:

In Ireland, the Jacobs brand name is owned by Valeo Foods –  a spokesperson for the company told DailyEdge.ie that the recipe had not been changed.

However, in the UK the Jacobs name is owned by United Biscuits, and it’s entirely possible that those crackers could be the source of the unrest we see here.

Don’t give up on your beloved cream crackers yet, folks.

No Jacobs biscuits are made in Ireland anymore that’s the problem the Irish has gone out of there products, perfect example is the famous club milk it used to be made here with Cadburys chocolate then they shifted production to England the chocolate changed and less was used remember the thickness of chocolate at the ends of the club milk not their now… O bye the way most products are made in Poland .. Only there head office remains in Tallaght

I bought a packet at the weekend in Supervalu, Ate two, and even the dog didn`t fancy finishing the rest – normally he is a bin on legs, but this time they were scattered all across the backyard.
Were only good for soaking up the excess rain water so he didn`t drown – as dry as F*%* they are,
    Definitely changed.

Tesco own brand crackers are surprisingly good and they’re only 26c per pack. I stopped buying Jacobs a long time ago..

    too late Joe
You will have to learn Polish and by that time production could have switched to Timbucktoo.
Are the 1916 relatives of the Jacobs garrisson aware of this?

I used to eat at least two or three packets of Jacobs cream crackers a week, I have just loved them for many years, they were the best crackers in the world! but now their completely tasteless and boring I am so disappointed. I switched to Bolands but they have changed them too! I now eat Carrs which are a bit tastier than Jacobs and Bolands. SO DISAPPOINTED!

The ones I had bought at the weekend were made by Mondelez International. Won’t ever be buying this product again. Interesting that the front of the pack stated “NOW TASTIER THAN EVER ” I won’t be eating them again, in fact I only ate one before junking the rest of the pack

Jacobs cream crackers used to be the tastiest crackers in the world, I used to eat 2 to 3 packets a week, but I have just had to stop wasting my money on them as they are tastless and boring. I switched to Bolands and they too have gone the same way! so I now have to settle for Carrs. So disappointed after years Jacobs crackers. Nothing tasted like it used too anymore.
