THE IRISH DEFENCE FORCES have been tasked with providing an evacuation platform for the possible airlift of approximately 40 Irish citizens from Libya, the force said tonight. The Air Corps Learjet departed Baldonnell at 8.40pm, while an Air Corps CASA aircraft is due to depart at 10pm. Both aircraft will fly to Valletta, Malta, where they will remain on standby to fly to Tripoli to evacuate approximately 40 Irish citizens from Tripoli.
