IS LEITHINIS É Fánaid i dtuaisceart Dhún na nGall, a bhí iontach iargúlta ar feadh na blianta.

D’fhág go leor daoine an áit seo chun glacadh le deiseanna agus poist níos fearr i bhfad i gcéin ón gceantar ina dtógfadh siad.

Ach tá iarrachtaí ar bun beocht a chur ar ais sa cheantar ón phaindéim ar aghaidh.

Labhair The Journal le Michelle Nic Pháidín, oifigeach pleanála teanga le Tuaisceart Dhún na nGall faoin na hiarrachtaí sin agus conas go bhfuil daoine ag teacht ar ais go Fánaid ó 2020 ar aghaidh.

FANAD IS A remote peninsula in north Donegal.

For years, many people left the area to pursue opportunities and better jobs far from where they had been raised.

However, efforts to revitalise the area have been underway since the pandemic.

The Journal spoke to Michelle Nic Pháidín, the language planning officer for north Donegal, about these efforts and why people have been returning to Fanad since 2020.
