Elderly woman killed in two-car crash in Dublin

Three others were brought to hospital with injuries.

A 78-YEAR-OLD woman has died after a two-vehicle collision in Malahide, Co Dublin yesterday.

Three others were injured in the crash.

The incident occurred at around 3pm yesterday on the Coast Road in Malahide.

The woman was taken to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, where she was later pronounced dead.

A 79-year-old man travelling in the vehicle with her is described as being in stable condition at Beaumont, after suffering non life threatening injuries.

Two women, aged 22 and 59, who were in the second car, were also taken to Beaumont with non-serious injuries.

Yesterday’s incident brings to 122 the number of people killed on Irish roads so far in 2014.

That’s an increase of five from this time last year.

Gardaí are asking for witnesses to call Swords Garda station on 01-666-4700, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666-111, or to contact any Garda station.
