1. #NEW PARTY: Lucinda Creighton has at long last announced that she will be launching a new political party – alongside financial adviser Eddie Hobbs and independent TD for Offaly John Leahy.

2. #PRINCE ANDREW: Buckingham Palace has denied that Prince Andrew had any involvement in underage sex allegations that have been made against him in a US court.

3. #TV3: Amid the launch of UTV Ireland, TV3 has released figures for its New Year’s Day performance and claims to be closing the gap on rivals RTÉ. 

4. #DRUG TESTING: By the end of the year Gardaí predict they will have the technology to carry out roadside drug testing on a driver’s saliva.

5. #UPC: Some customers could be seeing an increase to their monthly bill come February – with changes to the pricing of some packages.
