1.#FIRED: The Justice Minister has dismissed the garda confidential recipient Oliver Connolly. A conversation that Connolly had with Garda whistleblower Maurice McCabe was read into the Dáil record last week, where he allegedly told McCabe “if Shatter thinks you’re screwing him, you’re finished”.

2.#ANGLO TRIAL: The trial of three former executives of Anglo Irish Bank today heard that one of the accused wanted to be closer to the Maple 10 deals. Former CFO of the bank Matt Moran told the trial that Seán Fitzpatrick regretted not “becoming more involved” in the deals.

3.#UKRAINE: At least 25 people are dead as violent clashes sweep the Ukranian capital of Kiev. Another 240 people, including 79 policemen and five journalists, have been hospitalised. President Viktor Yanukovych said anti-government protesters had “crossed the limits”.

4.#PETROL BOMB: A Sinn Féin city councillor in Waterford has said that he refuses to be intimidated after his car was petrol-bombed. John Hearne told TheJournal.ie that he has been involved in efforts to curb the activities of gang members in the Waterford area.

5.#SOLDIERS: Two serving soldiers were arrested on Monday after the Defence Forces were called to a examine a suspicious device in Burnfoot, Co Donegal it was revealed today. The man and woman were detained at Buncrana Garda Station.
