Five people arrested in connection with Limerick murder

71 year old James Boyce was viciously beaten before being locked in a room at his house on Monday night.

FIVE PEOPLE HAVE been arrested by gardaí this morning in relation to the ongoing investigation into the death of James Boyce.

Two females aged in their 20s and 30s, and three males, one in his 40s, and two in their late teens were arrested in the Limerick city area.

Four have been detained under section 30 of the Offences against the State Act,1939 and one under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

They are currently held at Garda Stations in the Limerick area.

Mr Boyce, 71, was found in his house in Limerick on Monday night. He was a former decorated army hero who served in the Irish Army as part of a UN mission in the Congo.

He was ferociously beaten in the hallway of his house in St Mary’s Park before being dragged upstairs and locked in a bedroom.
