Roast Chicken Basil Pesto Pasta that contains Listeria monocytogenes FSAI

FSAI orders another product recall due to presence of Listeria monocytogenes

Customers who purchased the affected products are entitled to a refund.

THE FOOD SAFETY Authority has issued a product recall due to the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in Aldi’s Roast Chicken Basil Pesto Pasta, adding to a list of food products found to contain the harmful bacteria in recent weeks.

Despite the timing of the recall, the FSAI said there is currently “no evidence” that the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in the Aldi pasta product is connected to recent cases where the bacteria have been found.

Last week, an “extensive outbreak” of listeriosis led to the recall of 142 ready-made meals produced by Ballymaguire Foods.

Separately, seven spinach and mixed leaves products produced by McCormack Family Farms were recalled on Saturday due to the detection of Listeria monocytogenes, and two more batches were recalled on Monday.

The full list of the dates of the affected products is available on the FSAI website.

Customers who purchased the affected products are entitled to a refund.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause mild flu-like symptoms, or gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea.

In rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications.

Some people are more vulnerable to Listeria monocytogenes infections, including pregnant women, babies, and people with weakened immune systems, including the elderly.

The incubation period (time between initial infection and first symptoms appearing) is on average 3 weeks but can range between 3 and 70 days.
