Traffic officers also dealt with a souped-up motorbike in Wicklow this afternoon.

GALWAY GARDAÍ HAVE urged drivers to slow down after they clocked a car travelling at over 190 km/h on a motorway.

The traffic corps operated a speed check on the M6 and caught the Audi driver travelling 71 km/h over the limit.

The driver was pulled in at the junction of Galway and Ballinasloe East. Gardaí said that the driver will now face a prosecution for driving so fast.

Traffic gardaí have also been busy in Wicklow. Officers spotted a souped-up mountain bike fitted with a petrol engine. The cyclist had no insurance, licence or helmet when pulled in.

The bike was seized and the cyclist now faces court.
