Gardaí carrying out alcohol testing on motorway

Motorists driving the morning after were specifically targeted.

TWO SUSPECTED DRINK drivers were arrested at a mandatory alcohol testing, MAT, checkpoint on the M1 this morning.

Gardaí say the objectives of the operation are to reduce fatal and serious collisions and to specifically target impaired driving.

Learner drivers on the motorway, suspicious heavy goods vehicles and motorists driving the morning after were targeted at the checkpoint this morning.
