Gardaí seize three firearms and ammunition after stopping car in Co Cork service station
A number of follow up searches took place at homes in Co Cork, resulting in the seizure of further ammunition.
GARDAÍ IN CO Cork seized three firearms and around €800 worth of drugs after they stopped a car at a service station in Co Cork last night.
Gardaí stopped the car at a service station in Charleville at around 11pm.
During the vehicle search, gardaí found three firearms and ammunition.
Gardaí also seized around €800 worth of suspected diamorphine from the occupants of the vehicle, both men in their 30s and 40s.
They were arrested and taken to a Garda Station in Co Cork, where they are currently being detained.
A number of follow up searches have been executed at homes in Co Cork today, resulting in the seizure of further ammunition.
All firearms seized will be subject to further ballistic testing and forensic analysis, and all drugs seized will also be sent for analysis.
A garda spokesperson said investigations are ongoing.
