PSNI investigation into three murders leads to arrest in England

These include Catholic workmen Gary Convie and Eamon Fox, killed in 1994.

PSNI DETECTIVES INVESTIGATING the murder of three men over twenty years ago have arrested a man in southern England.

The 45-year-old is currently being questioned at Newbury Police Station in Berkshire, and was arrested as part of Operation Stafford, an investigation into UVF murders and other serious crimes.

Several arrests have previously been made in connection with the murder of two of the men, Gary Convie (24) and Eamon Fox (44), with one conviction being secured.

The men were attacked at a building site on North Queen Street, Belfast, on May 17, 1994.

The two were sitting in a car eating lunch when a gunman opened fire with a submachine gun.

The man arrested today is also being questioned in connection with the 1994 murder of Sean McParland, a 55-year-old shot while babysitting his grandchildren in North Belfast.
