Man arrested for rape and aggravated kidnapping of 11-year-old girl in Tennessee

The girl was walking to school at 7am Monday morning when the assault occurred.

A 20-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with the rape, aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault of an 11-year-old girl in Memphis, Tennessee.

The girl was walking to Geeter Middle School at 7am on Monday morning when Larry Ward was alleged to have hit her with his car before sexually assaulting her and leaving her in a ditch.

The girl’s mother told FOX13 Memphis news that Monday morning was only her daughter’s second time walking to school on her own.

The 11-year-old was treated in hospital after the incident but has since been released.

“Didn’t you see the innocence on her face, can you tell she was still a baby,” her mother said.

A man who passed the area shortly after the attack said the girl was so shook up, she could barely talk. He told Fox13: “I passed by this girl and she’s sitting on the ground crying. She’s like yeah, he hit me with his truck and then he proceeded to rape me.”

Ward was arrested 12 hours after the assault. He is due to appear in court later today.
