Jacob biscuits manufacturer sold in deal joining Irish brands

Fruitfield jams and Jacob’s biscuits join Odlums, Batchelors and Erin in deal with Valeo Foods.

JACOB FRUITFIELD is being sold to a company which owns a range of Irish brands including Odlums, Roma, Erin and Shamrock, according to Business and Leadership.

Valeo Foods has agreed a deal to buy Jacob Fruitfield, which produces Fruitfield jams as well as Jacob’s biscuits, for an undisclosed sum.

RTÉ reports that Valeo was formed through the merger of Origin Foods and Batchelors last year.

After the Jacob’s deal, the combined operation will have 500 staff and an expected annual turnover of €300 million. The deal is subject to regulatory approval before it can be completed.
