IT’S BEEN FOUR years in the making and grown from five employees to 45 – and now Journal Media Ltd has been recognised for its achievements.
The company, which publishes TheJournal.ie, TheScore.ie, DailyEdge and BusinessETC, has been given a Rising Star award at the prestigious Deloitte Technology Fast 50 for its growth in the past three years.
Journal Media celebrated its fourth birthday last month, and announced that it would be creating 35 new jobs over the next three years. The new roles will be mainly for journalists, with a focus on sport and business coverage. The company’s titles attracts 370,000 daily readers and has 4 million unique visitors every month.
Antrim-based CM Direct also won a Rising Star award – it specialises in the marketing and distribution of consumer goods, and was founded just five years ago by young entrepreneur Chris Martin.
The Fast 50 awards recognise success in public or private companies whose parent company is in Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland, and which produces technology, or manufactures tech-related products, or uses tech intensively in its business to serve customers (much as Journal Media does), or devotes a high portion of its effort to research and development of technology.
The top-rated company in the Fast 50 (which is for companies longer-established than Journal Media’s four years) was Cork-founded Inhance Technology, a company that creates security features for smartphones and tablets – it experienced over 1,000% growth in revenue over the past four years.
