He has since been released and a file will be prepared for the DPP.

A MAN HAS been arrested in connection with the investigation into an attempted murder in Co Donegal earlier this year.

The incident happened at a house in Lifford, where two men were seriously assaulted at around 10am on 20 January.

One man, aged in his 20s, was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast for treatment of serious injuries.

The second man, aged in his 60s, was brought by ambulance to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment of less-serious injuries.

A garda spokesperson said a man, aged in his 40s, was arrested on Monday, 1 December. He was detained at a garda station in the Dublin Metropolitan Region under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

He has since been released and a file will be prepared for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

A woman in her 50s was arrested in connection with the investigation in July, but she was subsequently released without charge.

Anyone with any information that can assist with the investigation is asked to contact Letterkenny Garda Station on 074 9167100, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
