Man (40s) arrested after e-scooters and e-bikes seized in Dublin 7

Gardaí said the vehicles were seized from people “driving in a dangerous manner on public roads and pedestrianised streets”.

A MAN HAS been arrested after gardaí seized a number of electric bikes and scooters in Dublin.

The seizures were made as part of Operation Meacán, which aims to tackle the use of electric motorbikes, e-scooters and e-bikes being used for criminal activity, including drug distribution and money laundering. 

Gardaí from the Dublin Metropolitan Region (DMR) North Central Bridewell Community Engagement Area conducted a number of checkpoints in Dublin 7. 

A spokesperson said the high-powered vehicles were seized from people “driving in a dangerous manner on public roads and pedestrianised streets”.

A man in his 40s was arrested for possession of offensive weapons. He has since been charged and bailed to court on a later date.

A spokesperson said investigations into the matter are ongoing.
