Man (29) arrested over murder of 56-year-old man in Swords

Investigations are continuing and gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

A 29-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested after a 56-year-old man was murdered in Swords yesterday morning.

Gardaí were called to the scene at North Street in Swords at about 3.05am on Sunday where they found a man with serious injuries.

The man received medical care at the scene but was pronounced dead from his injuries.

Councillor Darragh Butler said, “Like many other Swords residents, I was shocked and saddened to wake up to the news on Sunday morning that there had been a vicious assault and that a man had a lost his life on North Street, Swords.

Everyone should be able to go out and enjoy themselves on a night out and get back home safely to their family afterwards.

The 29-year-old man was arrested in the Dublin area and is being held at Swords Garda Station.

Investigations are continuing and gardaí are appealing for witnesses who may have been in or around North Street between 1.30am and 3am on Sunday morning to come forward.

They have also called for anyone who may have driven around the area and have dash cam footage from their vehicle to contact Swords Garda Station on 01 666 4700, the garda confidential telephone line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
