Man in his 70s dies in Cork city house fire

The fire occurred at a house on Old Friary Place on Shandon Street.

A MAN IN his 70s has died in a house fire that took place this morning in Cork city.

Emergency services were called to the house at Old Friary Place on Shandon Street at approximately 11.30am.

The body of the man has been taken to Cork University Hospital, where a post mortem will take place.

A Garda spokesperson told TheJournal.ie that they are currently investigating but not treating the incident as suspicious.
