Man (20s) dies after single-vehicle collision on M8 in Cork

The collision happened at around 6.50am this morning.

A MAN HAS died following a single-vehicle collision in Co Cork this morning. 

The collision happened at around 6.50am this morning on the M8 (Junction 18) Southbound in Upper Riverstown, Glanmire, Co Cork.

The man, aged in his 20s, was brought by ambulance to Cork University Hospital. He was pronounced dead this afternoon. 

No other injuries were reported.

The road is closed southbound from J17 Watergrasshill to facilitate a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them.

Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage, and were travelling in the area between 6.40am and 7.15am this morning are asked to make this footage available to them. 

Anyone with information is asked to contact Mayfield Garda Station on 021 4558510 the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.

A garda spokesperson said that investigations into the matter are ongoing.
