Man jailed for rape and sexual assault of daughter
The man is currently serving a sentence for raping two other teenage girls.
A MAN WHO raped his daughter and admitted to ‘grooming’ her has been sentenced to 12 years in jail.
The Irish Times reports that this jail term will run consecutively to a previous jail term he has for raping two other teenage girls.
The 42-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to raping his daughter from when she was eight years old, on 20 April 2000, to when she was 15, on 14 April 2007.
She became pregnant after one of the rapes and felt she had “no choice but to travel to the UK with her mother to have an abortion”, Newstalk reports.
The abuse was “under the guise of comforting his daughter” while her mother was in hospital, and included showing her a pornographic video.
In her victim impact statement, the woman said: “I hope he rots in prison.”
