A 22-year-old is wounded in Saunderson Court in North Belfast, while a 20-year-old is separately shot in Tyrone.

A MAN HAS been shot in the ankle in North Belfast in what police described as an apparent “punishment-style” attack.

The 22-year-old was shot at Saunderson Court shortly after 11pm yesterday.

A PSNI spokeswoman said the man’s injuries are not believed to be life threatening, but investigations were ongoing.

A separate investigation has begun into an attack, also last night, Co Tyrone when a 20-year-old man was shot in the leg.

The incident happened at 11.15pm when the victim was approached by three men.

They took him to a playing field in the Glebe area of Sion Mills where he was shot. His injuries are also thought not to be life threatening.
