Man stabbed to death in Limerick house

He has been named locally as Shane Murphy.

THE 30-YEAR-OLD man who was stabbed to death in Limerick last night has been named locally as Shane Murphy from Lee Estate.

It’s understood emergency services were responding to a call when they discovered the man with stab wounds.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body remains at the house.

It happened shortly after 11pm at a house in The Grove, Pallasgreen, County Limerick.

Speaking on RTE’s Morning Ireland, journalist Catherine Hayes said that the man who died was not from the area and did not live in the house in which he was found.

A 34-year-old woman was taken to University Hospital Limerick with an apparent stab wound. Her injuries are described as non life threatening.

Two men, aged 20 and 32, have been arrested and are being held at Henry Street and Roxboro Road Garda Stations.

The scene has been preserved and the Offices of the State Pathologist have been notified.
