1. Families of the scores still missing after Hong Kong’s worst blaze in decades have scoured hospitals as firefighting operations ended, with the death toll rising to at least 128.

2. Employees at an Irish company that offers services to Meta – the parent company of Facebook and Instagram – have been put on notice that 400 jobs there are at risk.

3. US President Donald Trump has said one of the two West Virginia National Guard members shot by an Afghan national near the White House had died.

4. The public has been warned to be “extra vigilant” today and to not be tricked by “too good to be true” scams.

5. A Number of people were evacuated after a fire broke out in an apartment block in Clonmel yesterday evening.

National Science Centre

6. The development of a national science centre has been an “absolutely unmitigated disaster” and an “omnishambles”, a committee heard. The Committee of Public Accounts heard yesterday more than €4 million of public money has been spent over 22 years on the project, which Fianna Fáil’s Seamus McGrath said “may never happen”.

7. The housing crisis is making women more vulnerable to abuse and exploitation and they often “must make the choice to stay with an abuser or leave and navigate homelessness”.

Wildcat

8. Wildcat bones dating back over 5,500 years ago have been uncovered following an excavation at a cave in the Burren. It’s the earliest directly dated wildcat ever found in Ireland.

Family Carer of the Year

9. The mother of twin boys who were conjoined at birth has been named Carer of the Year. Angie Benhaffaf, from Carrigtwohill, Co. Cork, was recognised for her 16 years of “extraordinary care” for her twin sons, Hassan and Hussein.
