GARDAÍ HAVE SAID there will be no prosecution of a former member of GSOC who allegedly went to a party attended by Gerry ‘The Monk’ Hutch.
The man was arrested and an investigation was launched in 2023 after the investigator was alleged to have attended the party on the night Hutch was cleared by the Special Criminal Court of taking part in the murder of David Byrne at the Regency Hotel in 2016.
The GSOC investigator was released without charge at the time and resigned from his position at the ombudsman’s office.
“Following the submission of a file for consideration of the Director of Public Prosecutions in this investigation, a decision of no prosecution was returned,” a Garda spokesperson said, adding they had no further comment.
