Appeal for information over serious Derry assault

Detectives are appealing for information following a report of a serious sexual assault in Derry over the weekend.

POLICE IN DERRY are appealing for information following a report of a serious sexual assault in Derry in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Detectives believe that between 12.30 & 1.15am, a young woman was assaulted by an unknown male, in the Shipquay Street/Magazine Street area of the city.

The suspect is described as being approximately 20 years old, 5’6″ tall, slim build, with short fair hair spiked at the front and having a local Derry accent. He was wearing a dark jacket, blue jeans and a black t-shirt with a checked shirt over it.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact detectives in the PSNI’s Rape Crime Unit in Ballymena on 028 25667214.
