Man arrested after two police officers shot dead in domestic disturbance call

Officers went to the home after receiving a call from a woman that her adult son was causing a disturbance.

POLICE IN CALIFORNIA have arrested a man after two police officers were shot dead yesterday.

Jose Gilbert Vega, a 35-year veteran of the department who was due to retire in December, and Lesley Zerebny, a 27-year-old officer who gave birth to a child four months ago were shot while responding to a domestic disturbance call in Palm Springs.

A third officer was also injured in the incident.

Officers went to the home after receiving a call from a woman that her adult son was causing a disturbance.

Police chief Bryan Reyes told AFP, ”The male refused to open the door and threatened to shoot the officers through the closed doors.

It was a simple family disturbance and (the gunman) elected to open fire.

It’s reported that the third victim is “alert” and assisting investigators from hospital.
