Second man arrested in connection with Ronan Kerr murder

Police say that as well as arresting a 40-year-old man, they have rearrested a 26-year-old man for Constable Kerr’s murder.

POLICE IN NORTHERN Ireland have arrested a second man in connection with the murder of constable Ronan Kerr last Saturday.

A 40-year-old man has been arrested in Co Tyrone by the serious crime branch of the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI).

He has been arrested in connection with the murder of Constable Kerr and in relation to the discovery of a significant arms haul in Coalisland, east Tyrone on Tuesday.

The man was in a car which was intercepted on the Ballygawley Line between Omagh and Ballygawley at 8.20am.

He is being held at Antrim police station and his vehicle is being examined.

Police have also confirmed that the 26-year-old man arrested in Scotland yesterday in connection with the arms haul has been rearrested for Constable Kerr’s murder.
