Shots fired as gardaí seize firearm and cash in Co Wicklow

A man has been arrested by gardaí after his car was stopped on the Wicklow / Kildare border yesterday. Shots were fired by gardaí during the incident. A firearm and cash were seized.

GARDAÍ FROM the organised crime unit fired shots during an incident at Ballymore Eustace, Co Wicklow yesterday.

A man in his 30s was arrested after his car was stopped by officers investigating the activities of organised criminals.

A firearm and a quantity of cash were recovered.

A second car which failed to stop for gardaí left the scene.

The man, 30, is currently being questioned at Naas garda station in Co Kildare, under The Offences Against the State Act.

The Garda Ombudsman told TheJournal.ie it has been notified about the incident.
