Slovakian man arrested after €99,900 airport cash seizure

The cash was found concealed in the clothing of the 55-year-old man as he attempted to board a flight to Vienna.

A SLOVAKIAN MAN has been arrested after being found in Dublin Airport trying to remove €99,900 from the state.

The man was searched while attempting to board a flight to Vienna this morning.

The cash was concealed in the clothing the man was wearing at the time.

The cash was seized by Revenue under legislation which empowers it to do so if it is suspected that the cash amounts to the proceeds of criminal activity.

Revenue was this afternoon granted a three month detention order in respect of the cash at Dublin Circuit Court, allowing it to carry out further investigations.

The cash seizure is the sixth such seizure at Dublin Airport in the last ten days. The previous five seizures saw a total of €92,870 seized; each seizure has also been made the subject of a detention order.
