A STATUS YELLOW rain warning has been issued for Co Wicklow.

The forecaster said there will be spells of heavy rain at times in Co Wicklow, with difficult travel conditions and flooding possible. The weather warning will come into effect at 11am and remain in place until 3am tomorrow.

It will be generally dull, wet and breezy for the rest of the country, with outbreaks of rain on and off throughout the day that will turn heavy at times.
The best of any longer drier spells will be in the north, with highest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees.
Tonight will also be wet and breezy with moderate to fresh cyclonic variable winds. Some drier spells will develop across the southern half of the country, with winds easing to make way for possible patches of mist and fog.
Some frost and ice will also develop in clear skies, with temperatures reaching lows of 3 to 6 degrees.
Sunday will be dull and misty to start, with scattered falls of rain mainly for Ulster and Leinster. It will become drier into the afternoon but remain fairly cloudy. Temperatures will reach highs of between 5 and 9 degrees.
Some early frost will develop for southwest counties tomorrow night, while it will be cloudier and breezier elsewhere.
There will be scattered falls of rain or drizzle for eastern and southern fringes. Cloud will thicken overnight as heavier rain pushes into Munster and west Connacht towards morning. Temperatures will drop to 0 to 5 degrees.
Monday will be another dull, wet and breezy day with rain forecast across west and south-west counties that will quickly extend nationwide.
The rain will turn heavy at times and persist into the afternoon before beginning to clear into the Irish Sea during the evening.
Lingering heavy persistent rain across east and northeast counties will eventually give way to a dry, calm and clear night across the country on Monday, with a chilly -2 to 1 degrees forecast.
