AROUND €5,000 WORTH of stolen goods were found after two houses were searched in Carlow town.
Gardaí carried out the searches as part of an investigation targeting a Romanian criminal gang involved in shop lifting in a number of smaller shops and chemists in the south-east of the country.
A large amount of perfume, clothing, and an assortment of electrical items, including laptops and tablets, were recovered. Gardaí found the items all wrapped up and ready to be shipped out of the jurisdiction.
Three people were arrested, a woman in her 50s, a woman in her late teens and a teenage man.
The teenage woman appeared before a special sitting of Gorey District Court yesterday evening where she was charged in connection with the incident.
